Fall Moods

Towards the end of Fall last year, I started this painting thinking of nesting and home. While working outside, leaves were falling and piling up around me. I made a quick change of course, and began to incorporate the leaves and debris into the work. There was a 24hr period where the painting was so wet I couldn’t move it, yet frost was coming for the evening. I decided to leave the painting outside to freeze, and it did not dry until the following day. On the second day, I sat on the front deck most of the morning, slowly picking each leaf off so that it would leave imprints behind.
